How to Program Your Mind

In this section you will learn how to program your mind using motivational affirmations, money affirmations, happiness affirmations and other assertions that you may need in order to get rid of those memes that are preventing you from achieving your goals.

I have put together a flowchart to simplify and assist with the navigation as you work through all the sections. It will indicate clearly the sequence that you should follow. If you do not have this flowchart please click on the graphic at the bottom of this page.

In the section "The Power of Subconscious Mind" you learnt that you have two minds. The conscious and subconscious mind.

You also realised that your programming is stored in your subconscious mind and that when your subconscious mind is in the Theta frequency it is in the “record” mode.

But how do you get your mind into that hypnogogic state when you are able to record new information to override the stored programs?

So here is the good news!

Once a day, just before you fall asleep, your subconscious mind goes through the Theta frequency. So for about ten minutes each day your subconscious mind is in “record” mode.

In his book “How to change your life without effort to achieve everything you desire”, Peter Haddon taught me a simple method to reprogram your subconscious mind.


I am going to go through the four examples from the "Goal Setting Form" to illustrate this method on how to program your mind.

You need to listen to these affirmations as you are falling asleep.

Make sure that the player that you are using will switch off automatically. Alternatively listen to the affirmations using your iPod or cell phone.


Recording the Affirmations

It is very important that the affirmations are recorded in a strong, commanding but soft voice.

You must speak slowly but firmly. Remember that you are commanding your subconscious mind.

Each sentence must be repeated ten times before moving to the next one.

Because you are commanding the subconscious mind, each sentence in the affirmation starts in the second person pronoun, you.

You can record the affirmations yourself using your computer’s own “sound recorder”. You might prefer to use an external microphone to get a better sound recording.

Repeat the affirmation until you have at least, a thirty minute recording.

If you do not like to listen to the sound of your own voice, ask a friend to record it for you.

I record one affirmation using my computer’s sound recorder and save it in the folder “affirmations list” which I created in my section the life plan. Give it the name of the affirmation that you have just recorded.

I have a voice tracer digital recorder which records files in mp3 format. I connect a lead between my headphones jack on the computer and the microphone jack on my voice tracker. I then record the saved sound recorder file repeatedly for thirty minutes. The easiest way is to set the “Windows Media Player” to play the file over and over again by clicking on the icon to “Turn repeat on”.

A voice tracer recorder is the easiest way to go.

You can also listen to the file directly from the voice tracer.

If you are going to buy a voice tracer make sure that; it has a microphone jack, a headphones jack and that it switches itself off automatically.


How to Listen to the Affirmations

It is best to listen to the affirmations through headphones. Use an ear bud type headset so that if you sleep on your side, you can remove the ear bud from the ear resting on the pillow. Don’t worry about the ear buds, they will fall out of your ears during the night.

It might be a good idea to get a headset with microphone. You can use it to record the affirmations as well.

Lie in bed on your back with the ear buds in your ears and the player ready to start playing the affirmation. Keep your finger on the play button but don’t start playing yet. Let your body relax. Feel your feet relaxing then your legs and move up the body until you feel that the whole body is relaxed.

Press the play button, listen to the affirmation and allow yourself to fall asleep.

As you doze off to sleep, your subconscious mind will cross the Theta frequency for about ten minutes. This is when your subconscious “record” button is turned on and you start to program your mind.

The affirmations are recorded into your subconscious mind during this period.

Repeat the affirmation for 14 consecutive nights. Do not skip a day.

Then move on to the next affirmation.

But how do you know which specific affirmations you need to program your mind?




What do I need to Reprogram?

In my sector on "the power of subconscious mind", you learnt that for 95% of the time you are operating from your subconscious mind, where your programs are stored.

So, your life is a blueprint of your subconscious mind.

Look at the second column of your goal setting form.

Those were the reasons that you gave for not having yet achieved your goals. They are the beliefs that you need to reprogram.

I have taken the examples from the goal setting form to illustrate which affirmations you need to use to program your mind and eliminate those memes or excuses that are preventing you from attaining each specific goal.


Motivational Affirmations

In the first example you lack motivation to become a doctor of medicine. You need to program your mind by increasing your firmness of purpose and your courage. Money Affirmations

In this example you want a new car but your excuse is that you cannot afford it. You need to start believing that money comes to you easily. Go to money affirmations.


Self Confidence Affirmations

Here you have stated that everyone puts down your ideas and you start doubting your choices. You need to program your mind to increase your self confidence. Click to go to self confidence affirmations.


Weight Loss Affirmations

In the last example from the goal setting form you stated that you want to lose weight but that all the diets that you have tried, have not worked. Go to weight loss affirmations and start believing that you have already reached your goal weight.


Happiness Affirmations

It is extremely important that you feel happy at all times and this is why I have included this segment. Click on happiness affirmations and start to program your mind with thoughts and feelings of well-being, contentment and extreme joy.
