Not only are there physical benefits to exercise but our emotions are also influenced by our motion or lack of it. Exercise helps to eliminate depression, anxiousness, over-sensitivity and negative thoughts and feelings.
Our bodies were designed to live active lives.
Exercise plays a major role in insuring our body’s self healing energy and is an essential component of our health related fitness.
When we exercise, our brain releases beta-endorphins which produces feelings of emotional well being. You may have heard of the expression “runner’s high” which is caused by these neurochemicals.
Regular aerobic exercise such as jogging, river rafting, walking, swimming or cycling lowers your blood pressure and reduces blood serum cholesterol which in turn improve cardio fitness.
Exercise also helps to keep your bones healthy and improves the circulation of the bodily fluids in your joints.
You need to do some form of physical exercise every day.
Choose a form of exercise that you enjoy and which makes you feel energised.
Please read our General Disclaimer before you start any new exercise program.
In this section I have listed five types of exercise. Click on the link and open up the page which will give you more detailed information.
In 2005, I was introduced to a book by Peter Kelder entitled “Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth”. The book tells the story of a retired British Army officer who while stationed in India, was told about a group of Tibetan clerics who had discovered the secret to eternal youth. Colonel Bradford, the retired officer, became obsessed and went in search of this fountain of youth.
When a younger looking version of Colonel Bradford returns four years later, he brings back with him the secret to eternal youth – a set of exercises which he called, the 5 Tibetan Rites.
You have a hollow muscular organ located behind the sternum and between the lungs; its rhythmic contractions move the blood through the body and it keeps you alive. It is called the heart.
Your heart is without a doubt the most important muscle in your body and it therefore makes good sense to take very good care of it.
Just like any other muscle, it needs to be exercised regularly. Go to my page and learn How to Improve Cardio Fitness.
The best aerobic exercise is any exercise that causes you to breathe deeper, faster and causes you to perspire. Choose any activity that brings you joy whether it is brisk walking, light jogging, dancing, swimming, cycling, river rafting or hiking.

Yoga is one of the great forms of exercise. Laura is a yoga teacher who has produced a video teaching yoga to kids. I asked Laura to write the subsection on Yoga Health Benefits.
Exercise alone is not going to make you thinner but then nor is starving yourself. You will burn fat when you combine exercise and sensible eating habits.
There are however, some exercises that are better at burning calories. Go to my subsection on Fat Burning Exercises.
Whichever form of exercise you choose, make sure that you take it easy for the first week and then gradually build up. Do not over stress your body.
It is important to warm up before exercising and to stretch your muscles and joints when you finish.
Choose the exercise that you enjoy the most and that fits your lifestyle and start enjoying the numerous benefits to exercise.
