Positive Attitude

How do you define attitude? Do you have a positive attitude? I will show you a way of questioning attitude and releasing the power of positive thinking.

“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve” said Napoleon Hill.

In the previous segment, I showed you how a thought creates reality. You are now beginning to realize that everything that has ever happened to you, you have attracted into your life.

If you live with a positive attitude, you are attracting good things into your life but if you have a negative attitude you will attract negative stuff.

Your Choice

The great news is that the attitude that you adopt, is your choice.

In his book "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude", Napoleon Hill shares how people have achieved great success by adopting PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) while those with NMA (Negative Mental Attitude) have consistently repelled success.

Where does your attitude come from?

It is determined by what you think about. And what you think about comes from your beliefs. Your beliefs are largely formed by what has been programmed into your subconscious mind as you learnt in my segment on "the power of subconscious mind" at the beginning of this section.

So, if your thoughts are positive, you have a positive attitude to life and you know that anything is possible.

If you have a NMA, then it is probably caused by those memes which I described in "virus of the mind".

What do you wish to attract into your life?

Do you desire success, wealth, happiness, love, health, peace and all your dreams or do you want to repel all of those?

It is your choice. You choose what you think about!

But how do you change your thoughts?

You question them!

Let me illustrate by taking one of the examples from my goal setting form.

Your dream is: I want to become a doctor of medicine.

Your thought is: It’s going to be too difficult!

This is the excuse that you have for not having yet achieved your dream.

Questioning Your Thoughts

Take the thought “It’s going to be too difficult to become a doctor”.

  1. Can you be 100% certain that this is so? Can you be absolutely certain of this, without doubt?
    Without any doubt?
    No, you cannot.
    • You haven’t tried it so how can you possibly know?
    • It has been done before. There are many qualified doctors.
    • And even if it has never been done, you can still not be 100% certain that it will be too difficult. After all, all than now is, was once only a thought in someone's mind.
  2. So, the thought “It’s going to be too difficult to become a doctor” may or may not be true.
    Do you agree?
  3. Now take the opposite positive thought. “It’s going to be easy to become a doctor”. Again put it to the test.
  4. Can you be 100% certain that this is so? Can you be absolutely certain of this, without doubt? Again, no. You cannot say with 100% certainty that it will be easy.
  5. So, the thought “It’s going to be easy to become a doctor” may or may not be true.
    Do you agree?
    Now you have a choice!
  6. You agree that both thoughts may or may not be true. Which one is going to bring you closer to your goal of becoming a doctor?

If the thought “It’s going to be easy to become a doctor” will help you adopt a positive attitude and will get you to your dream why not put that thought into your head?

Does this make sense?

Go back to your dream guide and fill in the third column with “It’s going to be easy”. Cross out the second column, as I have illustrated below.

Modified Goal Setting Form, Tony Bastos

Practice, practice and practice questioning all negative thoughts whenever they surface.

Arnold Palmer once said “It’s a funny thing, the more I practise, the luckier I get”. How true!

But what about all these people with negative attitudes that you come into contact with on a daily basis? Those people who are continuously criticizing everyone and everything. My advice?

Distance yourself from them. Choose to surround yourself by people with positive attitudes.

Sometimes it is not possible to avoid people with a NMA. They might be your colleagues or clients. What then?

Start practising “fogging”.

Imagine that those people’s words and attitudes are like a fog. As all that negative energy comes towards you, allow it to flow through your body. Do not absorb it. Don’t let it penetrate your mind but allow it to flow through it and away behind you.

The segment that you have just completed is part of a process that starts with the section “Setting Smart Goals”.

Imagine what your life would be like if you were unable to think negative thoughts?

You could not help but adopt a positive attitude to everything in your life.

You would be attracting into your life more like minded people and you would find that those people with NMA were no longer attracted to you.

You would also realize as I and many others have, that anything is possible and that when you combine this positive attitude with my method for setting smart goals you would transmute all your dreams into reality.
